Myles Lewis-Skelly has appeared to give his seal of approval to Arsenal's proposed move for Viktor Gyokeres.

Reports on Sunday emerged that the Gunners are in 'advanced talks' with Sporting CP over a deal to sign Sweden international Gyokeres. A move for the 27-year-old is not done as discussions continue surrounding a transfer fee, but the situation is nearing to a conclusion.

Personal terms have been agreed for some time and Gyokeres has committed to signing a five-year contract in north London. Despite interest from Manchester United, Arsenal surfaced as his first-choice destination and the Gunners are now accelerating a summer move.

Mikel Arteta is pushing to have Gyokeres signed and sealed ahead of his team's return to pre-season training. The Gunners are set to be back on the grass in due course, as they prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.

After Fabrizio Romano posted on Instagram, which contained an update on Gyokeres's switch to Arsenal, Arsenal left-back Lewis-Skelly made his feelings clear on the proposed move. The 18-year-old liked Romano's post.

Lewis-Skelly has enjoyed an excellent breakthrough 12 months after making his first-team debut for Arsenal against Manchester City last September. He then cemented himself as their No.1 left-back and started crucial Champions League fixtures in April and May against Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

After impressing, Real emerged as a potential destination with his contract set to run out next summer. However, the teenager committed his future to Arsenal and signed a new five-year deal last month.

Speaking after penning new terms, Lewis-Skelly told Arsenal's club website: "I'm so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I'm a fan and it's like a dream come true.

"I've embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I've still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that's the most important thing to me.

"I know I've taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I've made. I'm definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.

"I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that's always learning and stays grounded, which is so important."
