Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokereshas also been a target for Arsenal, with the Gunners recently stepping up their efforts to bring the Sweden international to the Emirates Stadium.
As a result, Arsenal stepping up their interest in Gyokeres has led to a move for Sesko being less likely to happen.
TeamTalk have reported that Arsenal decided to back out of a deal to sign Sesko after being quoted an asking price for a transfer fee worth €90 million (£78million).
As a result, it has been reported that Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal are now showing an interest in signing Sesko, having already made an approach to Leipzig over a deal for the Slovenia international.
Until the Gunners complete a deal for Gyokeres, there is still likely to be speculation that a move for Sesko may be possible this summer.
However, the report does claim that Arsenal have "distanced themselves" from a deal to sign Sesko.
It remains to be seen where Sesko will be playing his football next season, with the rumours that a move to Arsenal is on the cards still doing the rounds.
Arsenal have until September 1 to complete their transfer business for the summer.
The Gunners have made three new signings with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, while a deal for Chelsea star Noni Madueke is close to being completed.
