Guwahati: Financial institution Northeastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) has launched the NEDFi Information & Resource Centre and Northeastern Region Databank for the public to access its utilities.
NEDFi celebrated its 30th Foundation Day on 9th August 2025. The premier Financial institution of the Northeast has assisted over 28000 projects in all eight states of NER in the last three decades, with the sanction figure of over Rs 9000 crores providing credit support to entrepreneurs.
NEDFi Micro Finance Scheme is reaching out to the unserved and underserved corners of northeastern states. So far, under the scheme, NEDFi has disbursed Rs 1,093 Crore, touching more than 10.50 lakhs lives.
NEDFi Micro Lending Scheme, another initiative of NEDFi to promote and support Micro Entrepreneurs, has so far benefited 18500 + individuals with a disbursement of Rs 185 Crore, enabling them to come out of the debt trap of high-cost money lenders.
To commemorate this occasion, NEDFi organized several activities dedicated to the people of the region the programme was attended by Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary Assam, Niraj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of DoNER, and S.K. Bhalla Secretary NEC.
S.K. Bhalla, Secretary, NEC, in his speech, acknowledged the cordial relationship between NEDFi and NEC for all the developmental activities for the region. They also released “Book on NEDFi – Three decades of exemplary services to North-East India” and also Techno Economic Development Fund Studies on (i) A study on connectivity and Economic importance of the Siliguri corridor for the Northeast and (ii) Value addition to tea, with special reference to the small tea growers of the northeastern region”.
PVSLN Murty, CMD, NEDFi acknowledged the support of NEDFi’s stakeholders in its 30 years of journey. He expressed his happiness on the overwhelming success and upliftment of the region with supports from the Governments, other agencies and the public. The event was also graced by NEDFi Board of Directors, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.
