Hal Shashthi or Hal Chhath is on Thursday, 14th August. On this occasion, mothers observe a fast for the safety and a happy life of their children. In this fast, mothers worship the first revered Ganesha, Mother Parvati, Chhath Maiya, and Balram ji. Lord Krishna's elder brother Balram ji was born on the sixth day of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. His weapon is a plough, due to which this date is known as Hal Shashthi. Mothers who are going to observe the fast of Hal Shashthi for the first time should keep some rules in mind because their fast can be broken due to some mistakes. Due to this, they will not get the full benefit of the fast. Let us know from Dr. Mrityunjay Tiwari, Astrologer of Maharishi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Ujjain, which works should not be done on Hal Shashthi.

Do not do these 6 things on Hal Shashthi
1. Hal Shashthi As the name suggests, it is a combination of plough and Shashthi Tithi. In this fast, those things are not used which are produced by ploughing.
2. In the fast of Hal Shashthi, cow's milk and its products like curd, ghee, etc. are not used.
3. In this fast, mothers should use the Mahua tree as a brush. Use of another toothbrush is prohibited.
4. Women observing fast on Hal Shashthi are prohibited from walking on the land ploughed by a plough.
5. On the day of fast and even a day before that, women observing fast should not consume tamasic things like garlic, onion, meat, etc.
6. If you are observing this fast for the happy life of your child, then you should not give any kind of pain to your child. Similarly, the child should also not cause pain to his mother.
What should women eat in Hal Shashthi?
In this fast, women should use water chestnut or Mahua flour for eating. You can use Tinni rice, buffalo milk, curd, ghee, fruits, etc. Do not use things produced by ploughing.
