Patna: A seamless drive on Bihar`s roads is still not a full reality as even trees in the middle of a main road are there to greet you and check your driving skills.

The place is also not very far from the state capital, only 50 kms away, but commuters will find trees standing tall in the middle of the 7.48 km long road in Jehanabad, making the commuters prone to accidents.

There is also a 'bewildering' reason behind it, exposing how the official hiccups could create serious difficulties and even could play havoc with the lives of common road users. More surprisingly, Patna-Gaya main road has been newly constructed with zero potholes and trees lined up on both sides. But motorists’ pleasant drive turns virtually into a nightmare once they find trees in the middle of the road, demanding best from their driving experience to evade hurdles or else they should be ready to risk their lives.

The 100-crore road widening project turned haywire when the forest department turned down the district administration’s request to remove trees. The forest department could have accepted the district administration`s request only if the latter had given 14 hectares of forest land. Undeterred by the forest department`s refusal, the district administration built a road around trees.
