Homeless man admits murdering woman with mallet after she invited him into £1.3m home

A homeless man has confessed to murdering a Good Samaritan who offered him a place to stay at her £1.3million home.

Apapale Adoum, 39, killed Victoria Adams, 37, with a mallet in her flat in Hammersmith, west London on February 9. On Tuesday, Adoum appeared at the Old Bailey and pleaded guilty to murder.

Ms Adams endured at least ten separate injuries to the back and side of the head after she was battered with the object, which was found with her blood and DNA on it.

The pair had met just days earlier at a homeless shelter, and she invited him to stay with her. However, she later wrote a note to ask him to leave.

Police were called to reports of a man attempting to break into the property in Coulter Road. The victim was found face down in a bedroom with a black bin bag placed over her head, which was covered by a pillow.

A spokesperson for the Met Police earlier said: "On Sunday, 9 February at 22:13hrs, police were called to a residential property in Coulter Road, following reports that a man was attempting to force entry into one of the flats. Officers arrived and having gained entry to the property found a woman, aged 36, who had sadly died."
