During his visit to Motihari, Bihar, on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹7,000 crore, while delivering a strong political message. Calling Bihar the “land of Champaran” that has historically inspired change, the PM said that its legacy will also guide a prosperous future for the state.
PM Modi’s Vision for Eastern IndiaHighlighting his ambition to turn Bihar into a hub of economic activity, PM Modi said, “Just as Mumbai is known in the west, Motihari should be recognized in the east. Like Gurugram produces officers, Gaya should do the same. Patna should witness industrial growth like Pune.” He emphasized that a developed Bihar is essential for a developed India.
Attack on Congress-RJDTargeting the opposition, the Prime Minister accused Congress and RJD of neglecting Bihar during their regimes. He stated that during their 10-year rule, Bihar received only ₹2 lakh crore, suggesting political vendetta against the Nitish Kumar-led government at the time.
“In contrast,” Modi added, “in the last 10 years under NDA, we have provided several times more funding to Bihar for its development.”

Over 4 crore houses have been built under PM Awas Yojana nationwide, 60 lakh of them in Bihar, and nearly 3 lakh in Motihari alone.

Old-age pension was raised from ₹400 to ₹1100 under the Nitish-led NDA government.

The Lakhpati Didi initiative has empowered over 20 lakh women in Bihar, with a national goal of 3 crore Lakhpati Didis.
Reaffirming the government's focus on social justice, the PM stated, “Be it caste or region, every backward person gets priority in our government.” He cited the constitutional status given to the OBC Commission and the development of 110 historically neglected districts as key achievements.
He criticized Congress and RJD for using the poor and backward communities only for vote bank politics, accusing them of not giving “even basic respect to those outside their political families.”
On Operation Sindoor and NaxalismThe PM also recalled his earlier pledge of “Operation Sindoor” from Bihar’s soil, declaring that India is on the path to becoming Naxalism-free. He claimed that the success of anti-Naxal operations is being recognized globally.
Message to Youth and VotersConcluding his address, Modi stressed the importance of youth empowerment and employment in Bihar. He asserted that when Bihar grows, India grows, and pledged to create ample job opportunities for the youth within the state.
With the Monsoon Session approaching, the visit and remarks serve both as a development showcase and a political pitch ahead of upcoming elections.
