Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a phone conversation with Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The discussions focused on the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), the Green Strategic Partnership, and the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Sharing details on X, PM Modi said he had a "very good conversation" with his Danish counterpart. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening the Green Strategic Partnership and expressed hope for an early conclusion of the India-EU FTA. Modi also conveyed best wishes to Denmark as it assumes the presidency of the European Union Council.
Support for AI Impact Summit 2026During the talks, Denmark reiterated its strong backing for the AI Impact Summit that India will host in 2026. PM Modi thanked Frederiksen for this support, stressing that such cooperation would boost innovation and trade, benefiting both countries.
Decades of close tiesIndia and Denmark share diplomatic relations dating back to 1949. Their partnership spans green energy, climate action, and sustainable development, making the Green Strategic Partnership a key pillar of bilateral ties.
Indian diaspora in DenmarkCurrently, over 21,000 Indians live in Denmark as NRIs and PIOs, contributing in diverse fields such as IT, medicine, engineering, finance, and education.
