It's (almost) tennis off-season, and that means one thing. No, it's not just time for the players to train. In the tennis world, it's also engagement season. The professional tour is relentless, lasting 11 months of the year, so it's no surprise that most tennis stars wait until the off-season to pop the question to their significant other, and Sebastian Korda has become the latest to get engaged.
The world No. 48 ended his season just a few days ago, losing in the Athens semi-finals, and wasted no time in proposing to his long-time girlfriend Ivana Nedvev. Both Korda and Nedved come from famous sporting families, and they're now set to tie the knot.
A former world No. 15 and two-time title winner, Korda isn't the only athlete in his family. He's not even the only tennis player.
His father, Petr Korda, reached No. 2 in the world and won the 1998 Australian Open, while his mum, Regina Rajchrtova, is a former world No. 26 who twice reached the second week of the US Open.
Korda's sisters, Nelly and Jessica, are both professional golfers. Nelly is a two-time major winner and former No. 1.
And Nedved also knows exactly what it's like to grow up in a sporting household, as her dad, Pavel Nedved, played for Juventus and won the Ballon d'Or in 2003.
Korda announced their engagement on Instagram on Monday, sharing a strip of photos he and Nedved took a photo booth while she showed off her ring. "Forever and then some," he wrote in the caption with a heart emoji.
The 25-year-old also shared a selfie on his story. Again, Nedved flashed her pear-shaped ring.
Coco Gauff and Alexei Popyrin were among those who flooded the comments congratulating the couple, while Nelly and Jessica Korda also sent their well-wishes to their brother and his fiancee.
Korda previously told Express Sport about his relationship with Nedved, explaining that her dad's success prepared her for life on the tennis tour as his partner.
"The best thing is she understands sports, which is great. She understands how difficult it is to be a professional athlete and that there's a lot of sacrifices," the formwr world No. 15 said.
"She's an amazing partner to have and I'm very lucky to have someone that just understands it and always is trying to be there.
"She travels with me a ton. I'm very appreciative whenever she comes and we have a lot of fun together, she takes my mind off of tennis, and we have fun and can relax and go sightseeing a little bit and just be normal in a way."
Now, the couple will have some fun planning their wedding.
