The NBA is back for the 2025/26 season with a packed opening weekend. The New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams in action as the first round of fixtures gets underway.

Oklahoma City Thunder will be in the spotlight this year, with the team defending their title after being crowned NBA champions for the first time earlier this year. They beat Eastern Conference champions Indiana Pacers in a decisive Game 7, with both teams on three a piece.

It marked just the second title in The Thunder's history - their first since - with point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander named the finals' Most Valuable Player (MVP). Elsewhere, LA Lakers' Luka Doncic is one to watch this year following his suprise mid-season trade from the Dallas Mavericks, with the 26-year-old Slovenian now linking up with basketball legend LeBron James.

Doncic joins James, 40, in his record-breaking 23rd NBA season. It comes as the NBA is set to return to the UK next year, with Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies facing off at London's O2 on January 18.

For those keen to tune in to the new season at home, the NBA has a new home this year, with UK fans able to watch select games without paying a penny.

NBA fans can watch NBA for free on Amazon's Prime Video, where 86 of the regular-season games are included at no extra cost with an Amazon Prime subscription or Amazon Prime 30-day free trial. This also includes select Emirates Cup Championship games from October 31.

Amazon's coverage opens with a doubleheader on October 25 at 00.30am BST when the New York Knicks host the Boston Celtics, followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves at the LA Lakers at 3am BST. Prime members can also enjoy exclusive coverage of the NBA Berlin and London games in January, plus the 2026 SoFi Play-In tournament, one-third of first and second round games of the Playoffs, and a Conference Finals series as part of the postseason action.

More NBA games are available with Amazon's NBA League Pass for £16.99 per month after a seven-day free trial. Sky Sports also broadcasts select NBA games, including the New York Knicks at Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers at Golden State Warriors (October 29).

Sky's coverage is shown on Sky Sports Main Event and new digital channel Sky Sports+, both of which are included in Sky's £35 Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, which also provides access to the Premier League, EFL, F1, golf and more.
