JAIPUR: A 22-year-old man was fatally stabbed near Jaipur late Sunday night by an alleged history-sheeter from another community and his aides, sparking communal tension and protests on Monday along a key highway and leading to hours of snarls.
Vipin Kumar was stabbed around 14 times, allegedly by Mohammad Anas and his associates in full public view in Paldi Meena suburb , around 10km from Jaipur, police said. Anas, who faces over a dozen criminal cases, allegedly posted on social media claiming “revenge” for the attack.
Anas and his five accomplices were held late Monday afternoon. Anas allegedly attempted to seize a cop’s service pistol while being taken into custody, forcing the cops to shoot him in the leg. He was later taken to hospital.
Jaipur DCP (East) Tejaswani Gautam said that the exact motive for the murder was being ascertained. Local sources indicated the reason could be an ongoing dispute between Vipin and Anas spanning over two years.
